Information markets are new era of derivatives. There are several important events happened on global financial systems. Such as futures trading begins in early of 20th century, it followed by commodities and interest swaps. Financial systems generally lets investors to take a position on several event outcomes. For example if an investors thinks that FED will raise the interest rates, he/she can take a short or long position based his/her opinion.
Almost every financial instruments works indirectly with event outcomes, such like FED rate decision, politics etc. But current financial systems are not completely provides investors to directly take a position to event outcomes. This is why information markets are future.
The regulation of Information markets began with Kalshi in 2019 at United States. Kalshi is one of the first regulated information market provider in the world. They are regulated by the Commodity Futures Trading Comission, which has a mandate from Congress to regulate all derivatives and futures trading in the United States.
Expectium provides similar markets into Starknet ecosystem. Why don't we develop already regulated on centralized financial product in blockchain? This is the question that let us begin to work.
